ROUND 18

Juniors:

Raiders defeat Kangaroos for second spot on the ladder. Raiders prepared to run and attack goals, being rewarded with several goals. Zack Slater-Collard strong for Kangaroos and Brandon Rich for Raiders. Raiders continues on their merry way with good team work resulting in more goals. Kangaroos with several streaks forward but Raiders defence was too strong. Final score 11-0 Raiders way. Goal scorers were Lachlan Clark (4), Braden Clark (3), Duncan Shalders (2) and Kylan Kennedy and Lewis Bothe (1 goal each). Votes went to Brandon Rich, Lewis Bothe and Lachie Mills of Raiders and votes for Kangaroos went to Jamie Guerin, Madison Albrecht and Zack Slater-Collard.

Revengers defeated Leopards in a 3-0 match. Reasonably even with Revengers having an edge over the Leopards. Revengers looked more dangerous up in the forward line. Leopards holding strong in defence keeping the score 0 all at half time. First part of the second half continued to be close and hard fought. Revengers scored halfway through, then putting on 2 more goals in quick succession to put the game beyong the Leopards reach. Goal scorers were Darius Cosgrave (2) and Hamish Wagenknecht (1). Votes went to Hamish Wagenknecht, Isaac McPherson and Brodie Dennis of Revengers and for Leopards votes went to Duncan Koop, Tim Brandler, Brady Newcombe and Emma Janetzki.

Warriors defeated Bombers by 10 goals. Warriors dominating the match but Bombers had a few good runs. Goal scorers were Alex Pipkorn and Adam Ussing (2) Ryan Smith, Alex McGrath, Louise Bone, Todd Alexander, Josh McGrath and Jaidyn Honeyman (1 goal each). Votes went to Louise Bone, Alex Pipkorn and Josh McGrath of Warriors and for Bombers votes went to Jo Ellis, Claire Barnett and Mikaela Turvey.

Women’s

Highlanders defeated Kaniva by 1. Highlanders dominating first half but was unable to convert on several occasion. Kaniva kept strong in defence keeping scores at 0 all at half time. Second half saw Highlanders strong in forward line scoring with 7 minutes left by Carmel McFarlane. Votes went to Emily Williams, Denise Vallance, Claire Barnett and Mikaela Turvey of Highlanders and votes for Kaniva went to Claire Riches, Rachel Clark, Kiralee Wilde and Heidi White.

Dimboola defeated Warracknabeal in a 6-0 match. Slow and steady match. Dimboola dominated play but unable to score consistently. Warracknabeal defence working well against the constant attack. Half time score Dimboola 2 Warracknabeal 0. Second half saw Dimboola again had more of the play and were able to score another 4 goals as the game slowed down towards the end. Goal scorers were Vicki Smithyman (3), Adina King, Kristy O’Connor and Nyree Hutchins (1 goal each). Votes went to Meaghan Pohlner, Elizabeth Klinge and Jess Ross of Dimboola. Votes for Warracknabeal went to Tiffany Bull, Jess Furey, Donna Robinson and Megan Harley.

Thunderbirds defeated Yanac in a 1 goal win. Fairly even play, Yanac had slightly more attack and passing well together. Thunderbirds were playing more as individuals in the first half. Second half same as first except Thunderbirds particularly Lauren Bendall pushed through and scored. Goal scorers were Lauren Bendall (3) and Bonnie McLeod (1) for Thunderbirds and Yanac goal scorers were Erin Blackwood, Jaz Wilksh and Ellen Wheaton. Votes went to Jeanette McLoed, Pam Cramer, Ange McCartney and Leah Bailey.

Men’s:

Hoops defeated Dimboola by 1 goal. First Half: Warracknabeal pushing hard early with plenty of attacking play in the ‘D’. Although Dimboola had a few shots on goal. Jamie Guerin scoring off a short corner for Dimboola, after a good run down the field from Tim Jorgensen. Warracknabeal coming back with 5 minutes left from Paul Slater scoring from a short. Jamie Guerin scoring from a field goal straight back. Half-time score 2-1 Dimboola’s way.

Ethan Schilling getting a cross through the ‘D’ to even the score in the 10th minute of the second half. Mostly mind field back and forth until Josh McPherson scored off the post in a short with a few minutes left. Shane Langman coming in a scoring straight after. Caleb Halsall scoring from a short within 2.5 minutes to go. Votes went to Steven Laverty, Jarrod Knoop and Paul Slater of Hoops and votes for Dimboola went to James Klinge, Louis Haines, Ben Gebert and Tim Jorgensen.

Tigers defeated Rangers in a 6 goal win. Tigers scoring in 5th minute from field goal to Brad Alexander. Tigers continuing to push, resulting in a great goal to Jamie Harding. Another goal to Nathan Alexander soon after. Penalty stroke to Daniel Kennedy in the 30th minute. Half time score Tigers 4 Rangers 0. Rangers playing more in the 2nd half with a much improved game. Lots of back and forth field play until Brad Alexander scored from a field goal in the 25th minute. Nathan Alexander scoring from a sliding on his stomach shot from a great cross by Luke Riechenbach. Votes went to Nathan Alexander, Alex Wheaton and Jamie Harding of Tigers and for Rangers votes went to Talor Dent, Graeme Janetzki and Bradley Carter.

Cobras defeated Hurricanes in a 6 goal win. Goal scorers for cobras were Braden Clark (2), Chris White Clint Beattie, Jordan Clark, Brett Jewell and Adam Wallis (1 goal each). Hurricanes goal scorer was Andrew Dorman.

Juniors:

Raiders defeated Kookaburras in a 19 goal win. Raiders dominated the game right from the very first minute when they scored. Lachie Mills scoring 4 goals and Braden Clark scoring 3 in the first half. Second half saw Raiders continuing their goal scoring spree. Kookaburras worked hard in defence and was reward with a goal by Jayrell Guzaren. Goal scorers for Raiders were Braden Clark (7), Lachie Mills (6), Lachlan Clark (3), Duncan Shalders (2) and Lewis Bothe and Brandon Rich (1 goal each). Votes went to Lewis Both, Lachlan Clark, Braden Clark and Lachie Mills of Raiders and Kookaburras votes went to Cassie Withers, Nick Crowhurst, Maydelen Occenola and Jayrell Guzarem.

Warriors defeat Leopards in a 6-1 win. Leopards moved quickly into attack to score the first goal by Amy Schultz. Warrior soon woke up and started domination the game. Goal scorers were Sam Bone, Alex Pipkorn (2), Louise Bone and Todd Alexander (2). Votes went to Emma Janetzki, Chloe Newcombe and Brady Newcombe of Leopards and for Warriors votes went to Sam Bone, Louise Bone and Todd Alexander.

Kangaroos defeated Bombers in a 12 goal win. Kangaroos dominating play, Bombers having some nice quick runs down the wing. Bombers players playing well as a team kept on trying regardless of the score. Second half saw Kangaroos dominating the play using their wings to score. Bombers forwards playing well as a team, with nice passing. Goal scorers for Kangaroos were Jamie Guerin (7), Caleb Halsall and Andrew King (2) and Lachlan Lehmann (1). Votes went to Jo Ellis, Ellie Wood and Mikaela Turvey of Bombers votes for Kangaroos went to Jamie Guerin, Zack Slater-Collard and Caleb Halsall.

Women’s:

Thunderbirds defeated Kaniva in a 9 -0 match. Thunderbirds dominated the first half scoring 4 goals. Strong play by Pam Cramer helped them to score two goals. Second half saw Thunderbirds dominating the half scoring another 5 goals. Goal scorers were Helen Cannell (2), Pam Cramer (3) Leah Bailey (2) and Louise Bone (2). Votes went to Rachel Clark, Lisa Stimson, Bonnie Tyas and Tam White of Kaniva and for Thunderbirds votes went to Helen Cannell, Pam Cramer and Leah Bailey.

Yanac defeated Warracknabeal in a close match. Very even first half love all. Play see-sawed between both ends of the field, with each team having the chance to score, but good defence preventing this. Second half saw both team stepped up the attack with Warracknabeal leading for most of the half from a goal by Megan Harley, then Yanac scoring with 5 minutes to go through Catherine Wagg and then Erin Blackwood scored from a Penalty Stroke with 20 seconds to spare. Votes went to Alana Colbert, Erin Blackwood and Sheree Shurdington of Yanac and for Warracknabeal votes went to Nakita Langman, Donna Robinson and Jenny Gaulke.

Dimboola defeated Highlanders in a 5 -0 match. Strong play by Dimboola enabled them to score within the first minute of the match. Highlanders had small amount of forward play but were unable to convert. Dimboola kept the strong play passing well and using good teamwork. Second half saw Dimboola still dominating was most play in Dimboola’s attacking end, in which they were able to score 2 more goals. Goal scorers were Adina King (2), Michelle Searle, Elizabeth Klinge and Jess Ross. Votes went to Meaghan Pohlner, Elizabeth Klinge, Jess Ross and Michelle Searle of Dimboola. Highlander’s votes went to Ally Salter, Kellie Price, Launa Schilling and Robyn Creek.

Men’s:

Dimboola defeated Hurricanes in a 4-2 match. Hurricanes scored the first goal by Andrew Dorman, keeping the lead for most of the half, until Tim Jorgensen of Dimboola found a path to equal the score. Second half saw another goal by Andrew Dorman of Hurricanes scoring again, but Dimboola soon answered back with 2 quick goals. Goal scorers were Tim Jorgensen, Jarryd Tischler and Jamie Guerin (2). Votes went to Brydon Tischler, James Klinge and Jamie Guerin of Dimboola. Votes for Hurricanes went to Stuart Hoffman, Ash Hannell and Ben Schwedes.

Tigers defeated Hoops in a 2-0 match. Goal scorers were Brad Alexander and Jamie Harding. Votes went to Luke Reichenbach, Adam Clohesy and Brad Alexander of Tigers. Votes for hoops went to Steven Laverty, Will Hewitt, Shane Langman and Barry Clark.

Cobras defeated Rangers in a 4 goal win. Rangers came out hard first and scored through Rodney Reichelt but the died off to let Cobras score 2 goals. Cobras came out hard in the second half scoring another 3 goals. Goal scorers were Clint Beattie, Chris White, Malcolm Eastwood and Braden Clark (2). Votes went to Clint Beattie, Jordan Clark, Adam Wallis and Braden Clark of Cobras and Rangers votes went to Alex Welsh, David Reichelt and Talor Dent,

Raiders defeated Bombers in an 12 – 1 win. Raiders have most of attack, strong defence by Bombers but score is 4-0. Raiders have most of attack again, Bombers had a few short corners. Raider score another 8 goals with Bombers with 1 Score 12-1. Goal scorers: Bombers – Mikaela Turvey 1

Revengers defeated Kangaroos in a one goal win. Half: Score 2-1 to Warrack at ½ time. Fairly even games with play see-sawing between ends. Strong Goalie work from Ellie prevented Dim from equalising.Very even game. Dominated by the older boys and both sides. Again play see-sawed between ends, with tempers getting frayed. Goal just before time saw Warrack take the game.

Women’s:

Dimboola defeated Thunderbirds by 1 goal. 1-0 half time. Dimmy’s teamwork up to the 25 good but over shadowed by people trying to score. Nhill can’t quite get passes together to score. Both teams had their chances to score in the 2nd half but scrappy play and good defence prevented any scoring after half time. Zoe Aitken was solid in defence and Elizabeth Klinge controlled the midfield well. Goal Scorers: Dimboola – Jude Albrecht

Highlanders defeated Warracknabeal by 2. Highlanders with most of the play but unable to convert. Also not converting a penalty stroke late in half. 0 all half-time. Highlanders finally able to convert after many near misses. Warrack had midfield chances but unable to start any attacking play. Goal Scorers: Highlanders – Carmel McFarlane 1, Ellie O’Connor 1

Yanac defeated Kaniva in a 3- 1 match. Yanac dominate match, unable to convert, many close misses. Kaniva with good defensive play, goalie and fullbacks working well under Yanac’s constant attack. 0 all. Yanac continued to put the pressure on Kaniva defense, 3 good team goals from Yanac and Kaniva got 1 back less than a minute before full time.

Cobras defeated Tigers in a 2 -0 match. : 1-0 Cobras way. Close game even play, with Tigers strong early, but Cobras fighting their way back. Yanac pressed hard but were unable to convert chances. Cobras defence held up and then were able to score very late in the game. Goal scorers: Cobras – Clint Beattie 1, Brett Jewell 1

Hurricanes defeated Hoops in a 1 -0 match. Quick game, ball going up and down both ends of ground. Both teams had their chances, no goals scored. Game continued at a quick pace with Warracknabeal having many opportunities but the Horsham goalie holding fast with some brilliant saves.

Dimboola defeated Rangers in a 3-1 match. Dimboola dominating, scoring two quick goals. Rangers answering back with a quick goal. Midfield play for most of the game. Halftime score Dim 2 – 1 Rangers. Nhill dominated the play. Dimboola goalie working hard stopping all Rangers shots at goall. Dimboola scoring goal in last 10 minutes.Goal scorers: Rangers – Harry Moll 1
